MEET WILMARIE
I chose to run for a seat on Alhambra Elementary’s school board when I attended my first board meeting and the topic of school closures was brought up.
I felt an obligation to represent and give public comment for families, students, and the community. A vacancy was announced at the district and I decided to throw my name in the hat.
Student academic achievement should be at the front of everything at Alhambra. As a board member, I aim to ensure student academics, family trust, and community collaboration are priorities of our district.
I chose to run for a seat on the Alhambra Governing Board as a representative of the community, a parent of a school-aged child, and a certified educator, while bringing each of those perspectives to the table. I greatly look forward to the chance of serving the Alhambra Elementary School District and community.
Decidí postularme para un puesto en la Junta Escolar de Alhambra Elementary cuando asistí a mi primera reunión de la junta y se planteó el tema del cierre de escuelas.
Sentí la obligación de representar a las familias, a los estudiantes y a la comunidad, y de alzar la voz en su nombre durante la sesión de comentarios públicos. Poco después, se anunció una vacante en el distrito y decidí presentar mi candidatura.
El rendimiento académico de los estudiantes debe ser la prioridad absoluta en Alhambra. Como miembro de la junta, mi objetivo es garantizar que el desempeño académico de los alumnos, la confianza de las familias y la colaboración comunitaria sean las prioridades de nuestro distrito.
Decidí postularme para un puesto en la Junta Directiva de Alhambra en mi calidad de representante de la comunidad, madre de una niña en edad escolar y educadora certificada, aportando a la mesa cada una de estas perspectivas. Espero con gran entusiasmo tener la oportunidad de servir al Distrito Escolar de Alhambra Elementary y a su comunidad.
